• Updates to BlogMailr Service

We’ve made some more updates to the BlogMailr service:

    Duplicate Posts

We fixed a bug that caused, in rare cases, for BlogMailr to create duplicate blog posts. During post processing an error would occur causing the original message to re-queue and attempt another submission.  The issue causing the errors have been fixed, and some of the error handling around when the post is submitted and after the post is submitted has been changed to prevent it from queuing the message again after it has successfully been submitted.

    WordPress Ultimate Tag Warrior

We fixed an issue with BlogMailr causing some errors when using the Ultimate Tag Warrior plugin for Wordpress.  BlogMailr was mistakenly processing tag blocks instead of passing them onto the blog.

  • Updates the night of November 27th

All of us at BlogMailr hope that everyone had a pleasant turkey day last week!

As for us, all the tryptophan from the turkey has worn off, so we're back at it.  Last night, we pushed a small update live that should fix a big problem a lot of people have been experiencing.  The update included:

    • Fix for an issue with BlogMailr causing duplicate posts.  BlogMailr was submitting the post successfully, but then would encounter an error in some of its post-processing, causing it to re-queue the message.  The errors in the post processing have been corrected, and the error handling around when a post is submitted and the steps afterwards has been changed to prevent re-queuing of the message should another error occur.
    • Fix for an issue with BlogMailr mistakenly processing [tags]...[/tags] blocks, normally used by the Ultimate Tag Warrior plugin for Wordpress.  BlogMailr will now only process [tags: ...] blocks, and leave [tags]...[/tags] ones alone.

The update went live last night at about 2am CST (GMT-6).

As always, please let us know if you run into any issues by posting to the Community Forums!

  • BlogMailr Updates

It’s been a few days since we last posted updates.

We’ve gotten some great coverage (Information Week) about BlogMailr (Wired) and new people are still signing up daily!

We’re definitely excited to hear from people that are using the service. So drop us a line!

Last night we made some updates to the site:

    1. Fixed some issues with SMS and mobile messages.

    2. Fixed issue with messages that have more than one attachment (previously we would only post the first attachment – oops!)

    3. Fixed issue with emails that included Contact Cards (vCards)

    4. Fixed an issue where a post could be posted to a blog even when the attachments fail to be accepted.

    5. Improved our error logging to capture more details to help diagnose problems.

We pushed this update at about 2AM CDT (-6 GMT) last night.

    Thanks!

    Rob

  • One Thousand Posts

We had a pretty strong first week on BlogMailr. Looking through some of the site statistics it looks like we recently crossed the one-thousand post threshold. We are certainly looking forward to seeing what this week brings.

  • Wow, what a week!

Lots of people trying out blogmailr this week!

We’ve had some great traffic according to our Google stats – thank you!

We released an update for Community Server 2.1 to support the newMediaObject so that you can post inline images via BlogMailr or Live Writer (and other tools).

We also made a few changes based on some early feedback about including the ‘Published with BlogMailr’ in the footer of posts made through BlogMailr. Our intent was to help get the word out, but some people told us it was too much so we turned it off.

Help us get the word out on BlogMailr and put this button on your blog linked to: http://blogmailr.com/r.ashx?1

    Thanks!

  • BlogMailr.com updated

    We updated blogmailr.com last night:

    • Improvements to Outlook specific HTML parsing. Some people reported seeing stray ‘>’ characters to show in message bodies.
    • Added support for several custom and older blogging platforms (like .Text)
    • Changed message processing to only append image attachments to the end of a blog post.  Inline images stay the same...
    • Changed attachment handling for non-images. Attachments that are not images will now show up as links at the end of the message.
  • We got Digg'ed

  • blogmailr.com is live

BlogMailr makes publishing to your blog simpler. There is nothing to download, nothing to install, it’s free for personal use, and works with all popular blogging software.

With BlogMailr you can publish to your blog from anything that can send an email whether it’s your PC, Mac, Phone, BlackBerry, PDA … you name it. If you can send an email you’ve got everything you need to use BlogMailr.

We built BlogMailr because we think it’s silly to have to install software, especially when the software you already have is so convenient. We’re Bloggers ourselves and we wanted a simpler publishing tool. Something that supported: drafts, archiving, spell checking, allowed you to write and search off-line (like when you’re on a plane), had some basic formatting, and worked well with attachments.

BlogMailr will soon be available as a commercial product for organizations that want to easily email enable any application.

We’ve still got a few kinks to work out and we’ll publish those here once we get a full list.

A cool feature to mention though -- to quickly add your@blogmailr.com email account just click on the vcard displayed on the My BlogMailr page:

This is a great little tip for adding your @blogmailr.com account to Outlook or your PDA.
