What blog software do you support?

A better question is what blog software don’t you support! We support major blogging platforms like: Community Server, WordPress, TypePad, Blogger, and others. It’s really not a matter of what blogs we support, but whether the blogs provide the standard service that we communicate with.

How do I know my email was posted?

You go to your blog and refresh your browser until it appears --- No, we’re just kidding! We send you an email letting you know if your post was published or not. Now there may be cases where your blog software is not publishing the content immediately, but we can’t control that.

Can I send attachments with my email?

It depends upon what blog software you are using. For our Beta release we are only supporting images, and if your blog supports it we can take inline images out of your email and publish them to your blog. We are quickly adding more options for image publishing and other file type support.

Can I use links in my email?

Yes, of course you can have links in your email post to your blog! If you use Microsoft Outlook with Microsoft Word as your editor just highlight some text, right-click, and 'Add HyperLink'. You can also just type out URLs and most email clients will automatically create links.

Can I use tags?

Yes. For example, if you want to tag your blog post 'blogmail', 'web 2.0', 'fun' simply add the following at the top of your email

[tags: blogmailr, web.2.0, fun]

We'll attempt to use those tags when we create your blog post. Tags can be separated by commas or semi-colons.

I'm lonely, does BlogMailr help me make friends?

No, but your blog might get read more if you post more -- and BlogMailr can help you do that. But maybe you need to get out more or visit this site.

Can I send pictures from my camera phone?

Yes, but only if your blogging platform supports attachments and the email address for your phone has to be on the list of approved senders to your @blogmailr.com account. How you creatively abuse this is entirely your responsibility.

What if the service or blogmailr.com site is down?

If the service is down we can’t publish to your blog. We hopefully won’t lose any email(s) you send and have built our system to accommodate storing data (warning geek talk: we queue emails and use transactional processing) when the service is down. We promise we'll do out best to make sure you don't lose any posts --- the good news is that most email systems have a Sent Items folder (so you won't lose any content no matter what).

Do you keep copies of my emails?

No we don’t keep your emails. We track and record how many emails you’ve sent us, when you’ve made them, and whether or not we were able to publish them but we don’t do anything else. More questions? Please review our privacy policy.

Do you share my email address or other information?

Absolutely not. We will never share any information you give us. More questions? Please review our privacy policy.

Do you share any of my contact information?

Absolutely not. We will never share any information you give us. More questions? Please review our privacy policy. You will receive email from us to tell you if your email was published to your blog. We also might occasionally send you other emails to tell you about the service or changes we're making.

How secure is this thing?

We take security very seriously and have a lot of experience building large enterprise web applications. Sounds pretty impressive, huh? Seriously, we’ve implemented a number of security best practices to make sure the data you store with us is secure. As for what all those are … sorry we’re not telling (we don’t want to give any would-be-hackers any hints). If you’re one of our commercial blogger’s your data is maintained and secured separately from our free personal blogger data.

Ok, how does this all work?

You asked, so if you’re not a geek please move along …nothing to see here. Blogs all support a common service known as the Metablog API that enables people to use software for publishing to their blog, in other words the Metablog API is a service URL that software applications can use to send posts to a blog.

BlogMailr is an implementation of the Telligent Mail Gateway that easily email enable any application. We first used it to email enable our community platform, Community Server. We liked it so much we wanted to share the goodness of email blogging with the world – so we made it really simple: we handle the email side and then talk to the Metablog API on your blog to publish the content. Pretty cool, huh?

What happens when I send an email to my @blogmailr.com address?

Do you really want to know? Ok, let’s peek behind the curtain. When you send an email to @blogmailr.com we first check to ensure that you are on our approved list of senders for the address you are emailing – yes we know the from address can be spoofed, but it’s step 1. Next, we attempt to take your email subject and body and make sure it’s all valid. Once we validate the email we decrypt your settings with a unique per-user encryption key and attempt to post your content to your blog. If we are able to post it we send you a reply that it was posted, if not we try a couple more times and then send you a reply letting you know what happened.

What about if my blog is on an Intranet?

Then you should talk to us about a solution for your company’s Intranet --- because you won’t be able to use the public BlogMailr service.

Why do I see 'Published with BlogMailr' in my blog posts?

This is our gift to appease the Google gods and other lesser search deities to notice that our site blogmailr.com is worthy of their almighty search index. Get a commercial account to get rid of this (although we could use as much link love as possible still).

What if I want a commercial account for my business?

We'd love to help you! Commercial accounts will get their own subdomain, for example @[my organization].blogmailr.com and we keep commercial accounts separate from our free service. In other words, you'll get bettery security, better service, and better support.

Where is the ‘e’ in blogmailr.com?

Because we thought no ‘e’ looked coolr. But just in case we bought the domain blogmailer.com too.

Who is behind this?

A bunch of hyper-caffeinated, Xbox playing, blogging software geeks: Telligent. We’re also the people that make the popular Community Server community platform.

Do you have any buttons I can put on my blog?
